Writing about fashion is fun any day of the week. It becomes more fun with all the perks that come with it- wearing fashionable clothes and accessories, getting goodies, meeting talented designers, attending events and sometimes when you are really really lucky, a one on one with a celeb cum fashionista cum a brilliant actor!

The good people from ITC Vivel invited me over for a tete-a-tete with the ravishing, breath takingly beautiful Kareena Kapoor Khan and I literally jumped with glee! Apart from the honor of having been invited to the do, I got to interact with Kareena, pick her brains on beauty and fitness and got myself a goodiebag from the Vivel guys. A fun day indeed!

Here’s an excerpt from my chat with Kareena.

The ever-glowing KKK

JB: Kareena I am sure you get this a lot but I just cannot get over how amazing your skin is. Can you tell us about your skin care regime?

KKK: No, I don’t. (Laughs). Actually I do. I am genetically blessed with a good skin. Both my parents have gorgeous skin and genes do make a lot of difference. Having said that, I don’t like using harsh products and chemicals on my skin. I wash my face with cold water several times a day. Drink a glass of water as often as I can. (As if on cue, she picks up her bottle of water and takes a swig). I try and apply natural products on my face like almond oil, cocoa butter, papaya, aloe vera etc.

JB: Are there any dos and don’t you strictly follow as far as food habits are concerned for your skin?

KKK: I don’t have a sweet tooth so I steer clear of cakes, pastries and such. I try and include a lot of green and leafy vegetables in my diet. Ofcourse I love my pizzas and burgers and can’t stay away from them for too long. (laughs out loud).

JB:  You have an amazing sense of style so my readers are going to kill me if I don’t ask you this- What do you think are some closet essentials for every girl? Some style cheats or must haves in your wardrobe?

KKK: I don’t think anyone can ever have enough items in their closet (giggles). No seriously! Well, I think everyone has a different sense of style but a comfortable pair of jeans and a well-fitted pair of trousers are definitely must haves. Apart from that seasonal wear like casual summer dresses during the hot weather and a nice pair of heels. But, I am sure no girl is ever happy with what she has in her closet, no?

JB: Tell us about your fitness regime. How do you manage to stay in shape with such an erratic schedule?

KKK: It does form a very important part of my life. I have a genetic predisposition to put on weight and that’s always at the back of my mind. You’ve seen my parents right? We love to eat!  My lifestyle has changed a lot in the last 10 years. I am a lot more conscious than I used to be. My fitness regime is a mix of a lot of things. I try and squeeze in whatever workout I can wherever I am. Yoga, gym, or sometimes just a long walk. Plus like I said, you are what you eat.

JB: So what is your typical day like when you are not working?

KKK: Both Saif and I have such busy schedules that we try and manage our off days in such a way that we can spend some time together. It could be just spending time at home or watching a movie together. Also, I love travelling. If I could, I would just keep travelling always. If it’s more than a few days of holiday, we try and plan a vacation around it. So, when I am not vacationing, I am mostly planning one. (Laughs)

JB: What sets the ITC Vivel products apart?

KKK: I like the fact that they are very gentle on the skin. They use a lot of natural extracts like almond oil and aloe vera. No harmful chemicals or harsh products. Eventually the effects show on your skin.

JB: I am sure my readers are hooked on to this interview. Would you like to say something to them?

KKK: Every woman is gorgeous so stay as you are. (Isn’t that your tagline!). Make sure you’re comfortable in your skin, whatever you are wearing. Style is all about comfort first, atleast for me. Try and avoid being over-dressed. Infact, I love being under-dressed. I prefer wearing a shirt and a pair of jeans everywhere.
