And the biggest Fashion event of the country just concluded. With a 101 designers list exposing their designs for the audience to view, the event was a huge success. The capital enthusiastically hosted the event and all the designs were a treat for the eyes. So Pranshuta and I decided to come up with our very first combined article! And we couldn’t be more excited to start this venture with our very own fashion week!

We bring to you 6 of our favourite designers who sprinkled magic on the runway with their inventiveness and technique.

Shantanu and Nikhil

So to begin with we would like to take you through the collection of the first rate designer duo- Shantanu and Nikhil who set forth a range of breath-taking ruffled and draped gowns.

The duo is known for presenting a collection which always creates a story of its own. The collection for the Amazon India Fashion Week was titled “The Last Walk” as it signified emotions and feelings of a woman who is strong and wants to create her own existence. She is ready to face all the hurdles which would confront her.

The duo returned to the gala event after 2 years and was extremely excited to participate in the event.

So, I think I’ll just let the pictures do all the talking. Hold your breath.

Gauri and Nainika

Another dextrous duo, Gauri and Nainika went on with the flower route for their A/W line at the event.

The duo’s show was planned like a bright sunny day’s brunch and their collection was dedicated to the striking shapes and multiple hues.

The show began with vibrant dresses and slowly moved towards the earth touching gowns with an elongated hemline. It wrapped up with a whole line of floor- length gowns.

The collection was a mix of strong colours like electric blue, bright orange, green, red, apart from the regular black and white.

Their collection was a combination of solid colour pallet, bold prints, glamour and feminism.

We also saw a few stone embellishments sprinkled on some of the pieces.

Varun Bahl

Varun Bahl who was extremely excited to return to the event after a gap of 5 long years, showcased his “Nocturne” collection for A/W’16. He delivered a set of huge insects, tropical forests and a real neem tree.

His clothes were embroidered with little creatures like owls, squirrels, horses, jellyfishes, etc. The backdrop saw muted tones and the creatures depicted an exciting environment of enchanted forests on the clothes.

The collection had ruffles, collars and what not!

Check out the pictures which say it all.

Anita Dongre

The Mumbai based designer presented her collection – Grassroot. She teamed up with bollywood actress Dia Mirza making her the show stopper of her collection. Her beautiful earthy hues were very well complimented with a backdrop of a forest in autumn with leaves falling around. And her earthy collection blended traditional techniques with contemporary silhouettes in a very soothing way. Block printing, shibori, dabbu and kantha work on flowy jackets, skirts, maxi dresses and jumpsuits added a certain fresh touch to the style.

Rajesh Pratap Singh

The Delhi based designer’s collection was high on glimmer. With so much of gold around, one might be afraid of overdoing it. But it was not the case with his Gold Rush collection! It was all subtle and sophisticated! He showcased a perfectly constructed collection in molten golden. The minimalistic looks in metallic surfaced skirts, maxis, and statement coats stole the show.

Payal Khandwala

The artist turned designer’s collection drew inspiration from  geometric designs! The flowing geometric silhouettes in solid colours and sheer fabric was a perfect blend of femininity with boldness. Her instinctive taste for soft pleated drapes in bold colour blocking was absolutely stunning.
