So one of the biggest fashion events of the country, India Couture Week just happened. The event happened at the lavish Taj Palace, Delhi and it was all about ostentatious glamour. The top couturiers of the country including Rohit Bal, Shyamal & Bhumika, Suneet Varma, Amit Aggarwal, Pallavi Jaikishan, and the like embellished the event with their ravishing couture.
It was the 11th edition of the event and how!! From distinguished outfits to resplendent jewelry, the show was a royal affair in every sense. It was a very useful and alluring cue for all the brides to be.
Tarun Tahiliani
Tarun Tahilian’s collection was all about twinkling florals and feather-light drapes in georgette and tulle. It was an amalgamation of royal Indian style and embroideries. With a European touch to the royal Indian style, the collection truly displayed the aesthetics of modern India.
The showstopper for the designer was the gorgeous Aditi Rao Hydari who was dressed in an off-shoulder peach color lehenga and looked like a princess in the heavily embroidered couture.
Anju Modi
Anju Modi’s collection depicted the Victorian era. She named her collection “A Maiden’s Prayer”. She wrote in her Instagram post how she found inspiration for the collection from the classic literature, art, architecture, etc of that Victorian era.
Her showstopper was the classic Indian beauty Kangana Ranaut who looked as if she’s come straight from a fairy tale. The designer chose heavy fabrics and convoluted textures and thus her collection was a true inspiration for the modern day bride.
Shyamal & Bhumika
“Muse of mirrors” was the collection presented by the designer duo Shyamal & Bhumika. The designs had intricate detailing and wealthy embroideries. They chose to display their designs on matka silk, crepes, and georgettes. Actress Kiara Advani played the muse for the duo who was draped in a green lehenga and looked breathtakingly beautiful.
Rohit Bal
One of India’s finest fashion designers, Rohit Bal who has the most splendid creations in his name, presented his collection “Guldastah” at the India Couture Week 2018. The designer’s collection was inspired by vibrant flowers and majestic birds. The collection had lilies, flamingos, elephants, and sunflowers. It was a perfect mix of minimalistic designs and magnificence.
Suneet Varma
His show looked as if it was coming straight from the movie “Fashion”. His collection “Naintara” exhibited a combination of Indian sensibility and European era. All the dresses were magnificent and dreamy. The appliqued jackets, ruffled sleeves, pearls, sequins, vivid embroideries and sheer transparent fabrics all came together for creating a splendid show.
