You can check out part 1 and 2 here and here.
So it was wedding time in my family with my first cousin tying the knot last week. Now, you must know I am a Marwari by birth. For us there are only two rules in a wedding-1. wear a saree 2. it should be as bright colored as possible-mustard, pink, yellow, orange are some of the favorite colors.
My family has come a long way over the years and the daughters (even the daughters-in-law in some cases) are more or less allowed to dress up as they like. But the wedding was in Jodhpur-the epicentre of all marwari tradition and taking a fashion risk was well… too risky!
And so, true to my rebellious nature (especially when it comes to fashion), I decided to break rules and dress “MUGHAL”! I had my share of “raised eye-brows”, “leg pullings”, even “woahh what are you wearing!” but I did enjoy the attention 😉
So here goes:
I decided to wear a black “Anarkali Lehenga” and accessorized it with “chaand baali”, “paasa” and a “haath-phool” or a “hand harness”. Notice how I said “chaand-bali”- because I only wore one of the pair!
That’s my husband making bunny ears on my head, my cute li’l nephew peeping from behind and the bride and her friends in the background. There is no quiet moment in a maru wedding!
It was mostly a black and blue ensemble and the only hint of color was by way of my red nails, lips and the red under-toned clutch.
Did you like the styling or this time I went a little too far with all the breaking of rules? Do write in as always!
Stay Gorgeous xx
