Last week I spoke about the upcoming Black Taxi event and CB’s association with it. They are showcasing 50 plus designers and it’s going to be mind boggling checking each one of them out. So, here’s my top pick of designers. While all 50 of them are seriously talented and have a collection to die for, I am showcasing a few here that I personally like.

Kalki Design Studio

Cotton, khadi, mul are my fabrics of choice this summer. What about you? Kalki Design Studio’s latest collection is all about exploring Indian textiles and and trying to bring in the elements of tradition and contemporary together for a global appeal. The Creative Director at Kalki, Karunya is a trained engineer and an MBA but designing is her true calling. Well, we are not complaining! Her designs can be best described as wearable cloothing in clear lines , non fuzzy , minimal and effortless. I love their design aesthetics and clean cuts and I am sure you will too!

Pappilon Clutches

The very talented designer duo from Ahmedabad (sisters Meeti and Purva) own Papillon Clutches. The brand name has been adapted from the french word “papilo”meaning colourful butterfly and rightly so! The collection is bright, colourful, hand crafted and yet very functional and affordable! Meeti is a trained designer and Purva an MBA. Do you see a trend here!? 🙂

Papillon specializes in designing customized women accessories namely clutches, sling bags, small hand bags.

Bhavs Designer Jewelry

Bhavna Narang is another talented jewelry designer from Ahmedabad. Her collection is characterized by rich lively colours, stones and metal combined to make statement jewelry. She also customizes pieces as per your requirements. Aren’t her pieces so vibrant and happy! I love every single one of them.

Every piece at Saumya Gupta is hand embroidered with delicate techniques and a special attention to details. Every garment creates a beautiful colour harmony with the use of pearls, zardozi and exquisite fabrics. The designer Saumya Gupta is a fashion design graduate from Pearl Academy, Delhi. With the wedding season coming up in Ahmedabad, you may want to give her stall a visit!
